About the Role

Presbyterian is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Cardiac Step Down unit. We welcome applications from both new graduates and experienced RNs. New graduates have the opportunity to participate in our mandatory residency program, which includes monthly seminars led by the Nurse Residency Team, peer-to-peer debriefing sessions, support groups/mentoring, and rounding. The Nurse Residency Program supports your transition into practice.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a 0.9 FTE (36 hours/week) schedule, available on both day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

The Cardiac Step Down unit is a 38-bed unit committed to patient health through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialized care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring for cardiovascular disorders, including cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.
  • Caring for patients recovering from myocardial infarction, coronary intervention, pacemaker implantation, and electrophysiology procedures.
  • Managing approximately 50% progressive care-type patients.
  • Delivering comprehensive, professional patient care during inpatient stays, followed by personalized discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing (required).
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
  • Degree from an accredited academic nursing program (preferred).
  • BLS certification from AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross (required for all RN roles).
  • ACLS certification (required for specific units: Emergency Department, Critical Care, Cardiovascular Lab, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Progressive Care, Surgical Services Pre-Op and Recovery Room).
  • NRP certification (required for Family Birthing Center, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Mother/Baby Care).
  • PALS certification (required for Children Services, Cardiovascular Lab, Emergency Department, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Surgical Services Pre-Op and Recovery Room).

Pay

Compensation range: $39.69 – $58.17 per hour.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Nights) or 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Days).
