Banner Wyoming Medical Center is located in the heart of Casper, Wyoming. As the state's largest inpatient facility, Wyoming Medical Center is known and highly regarded for its cardiac and stroke services. With 249 beds and a level 2 trauma center, the hospital serves the entire state of Wyoming.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab, you will join a strong STEMI program and work alongside a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment. This department cares for the entire state of Wyoming's cardiac and vascular patients. You will work closely with physicians, gaining exposure to procedures such as TAVR, Watchman, and many others. This full-time position offers varied shifts and includes an on-call rotation.

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. You will be accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by yourself or those under your direction, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide care appropriate to patients' physical and developmental age.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
• Review patient history and physical with patient/family, ensuring completion within appropriate timeframes.
• Review diagnostics and laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
• Complete assessments and reassessments according to patient needs and policy.
• Formulate a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patients, families, and the health team.
• Initiate a realistic, measurable plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and multidisciplinary team.
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team.
• Provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
• Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision for care provided by other licensed nurses and personnel.
• Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed.
• Evaluate patient progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility, timeliness, and compliance with policy.
• Provide care based on the best evidence available and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
• Participate in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
• Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
• Actively participate in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, including participation in professional organizations.
• Interact with staff across departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to coordinate and clarify patient care.
• Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.

Requirements

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
• BLS certification is required; additional certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
• Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired.
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work, demonstrated through annual validations.
• For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions: Minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.
• For Home Health settings: Ability to operate a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license and active auto insurance coverage.
• For Behavioral Health settings serving children: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment; Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
• For Banner Home Care AZ: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment.
• For Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health roles in Arizona: State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Professional certification in a relevant specialty.
• Additional related education and/or experience.

Schedule

This full-time position includes 4 shifts of 10 hours per week, with varied shifts and an on-call rotation.
