Responsibilities

The RN's practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served.

• Records patients' medical history and symptoms, performs diagnostic tests, and analyzes results.
• Operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and assists with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Establishes or contributes to a care plan, including administering medication, managing IV lines, and providing therapies and treatments.
• Observes and records patient progress, consulting with physicians and other healthcare clinicians.
• Teaches patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment care, diet, nutrition, exercise, and self-administration of medication.
• Provides direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, delegating tasks as appropriate.
• Supports efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills, precepts new hires and students.
• Collects health data systematically, prioritizing based on the patient’s immediate condition, and involves the family in the process.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses and develops individualized, evidence-based care plans.
• Identifies expected outcomes and implements interventions in the plan of care.
• Initiates treatments, medications, emergency, and resuscitative measures based on standing orders and policies.
• Provides nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
• Evaluates patient progress toward outcomes and documents observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of care plans to ensure cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
• Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, and regulations.
• Integrates ethical principles and cultural/diversity needs into practice.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Develops and evaluates evidence-based standards of care for patients.
• Participates in and applies evidence-based research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
• Considers safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care, utilizing resources efficiently.

Requirements

• Associates or Diploma in Nursing (required).
• Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) preferred; all Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5+ years of Registered Nurse experience at the time of hire.
• Stroke-specific education requirements for staff caring for stroke patients (prior to start).
• 1+ year of RN experience for Float Positions (required).
• >10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience (required).

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
• State and/or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Arizona (upon hire, required).
• National certification for unit-specific patient population (preferred).

Pay

$20,000 sign-on bonus available.

Schedule

• 3x12-hour day shifts.
• Call required; must live within a 30-minute radius of the facility.
