About the Role
The Registered Nurse in the Phelps Medical Group Clinic manages, organizes, and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of a Physician. Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as PMHC policies, is required.
Responsibilities
- Assesses data regarding the patient's physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs based on the patient's age and development for patients of all ages.
- Reports and documents all observed symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient's condition.
- Utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver patient care.
- Develops, implements, revises, and evaluates a formal plan of care.
- Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, families, and visitors.
- Organizes and prioritizes daily assignments to provide optimal patient care.
- Demonstrates competency annually in assigned areas of work.
- Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.
- Complies with PMHC Code of Conduct.
- For those serving in a Charge Capacity:
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, and staff.
- Coaches staff to develop and demonstrate appropriate problem-solving behaviors and teaches methods to improve decision-making skills.
- Identifies opportunities to improve performance and leads and/or participates in performance improvement teams.
- Recognizes life-threatening patient complications/situations and responds immediately by initiating and participating in emergency procedures.
- Effectively utilizes the NOBL Rounding program, communicating recognition and concerns appropriately.
- Assists Manager with input on annual evaluations of clinical staff.
- Prepares monthly staffing schedule and reports to Manager.
- Provides input for monthly meeting agenda.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Reports directly to the Supervisor of Phelps Medical Group - Nursing.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb or balance, and taste or smell.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasionally works with explosive, toxic, or caustic chemicals.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Level of risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BSN), Associate's degree (ADN), or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
