Duties and Responsibilities
- RMA Processing & Product Handling
- Track and prioritize incoming assemblies and finished goods for testing and repair to meet turnaround expectations.
- Properly receive, handle, and log returned products to ensure traceability and accuracy.
- Clean assemblies and components using approved methods to prepare for testing and evaluation.
- Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly of products to access internal electronic components.
- Testing, Diagnosis & Repair
- Execute functional and electrical testing on electronic assemblies and finished goods using standard test equipment.
- Interpret test results to diagnose faults and identify root causes of failure.
- Perform component-level troubleshooting, repair, and replacement as needed.
- Utilize schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation to guide testing and repair activities.
- Make informed decisions regarding repairability versus scrap, based on company guidelines and cost considerations.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately document all test results, repairs performed, and findings within company systems.
- Generate detailed test and validation reports to support warranty claims, customer communication, and internal analysis.
- Maintain records of common failure modes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Process & Quality Improvement
- Develop and follow standardized test procedures for multiple product lines.
- Identify trends or recurring issues and communicate findings to cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, customer support).
- Support root cause analysis and breakdown analysis activities to improve product reliability.
- Assist in refining work instructions, test procedures, and repair processes as needed.
- Inventory, Tools & Workspace Management
- Identify and cross-reference electronic components and replacement parts.
- Maintain organization and storage of components, assemblies, and repair materials.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of test/repair supplies, tools, and consumables; request replenishment as needed.
- Ensure the test/repair area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety and quality standards.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and return of products to customers.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders when needed.
- Participate in team meetings and support cross-functional initiatives related to product quality and customer experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, or repair preferred.
- Strong understanding of basic electrical principles and ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience using electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies) for analysis and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in soldering and de-soldering techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and breakdown analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- This position operates in a technical lab environment with exposure to electronic assemblies, testing equipment, and standard repair tools. The workspace is climate controlled.
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1st shift.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, or crouch.
- The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
