Riverside's Lifelong Health Earn and Learn Nurse Aide Program (Hospitality Assistant to CNA)- Saluda
About the role
Riverside's Nurse Aide Program is designed to help new hires transition from Hospitality Assistants to fully licensed Certified Nurse Aides. Participants start as Hospitality Assistants in a labor pool until their scheduled course begins. The 4-week program covers the necessary skills and knowledge for the Virginia Board of Nursing – Nurse Aide exam.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of certified nursing assistants and charge nurses.
- Assist residents with eating and drinking as needed.
- Prepare dining room for meals.
- Assist with clothing protection and reminders for residents.
- Pass meal trays and assist with food preparation.
- Feed residents as qualified.
- Document meal consumption.
- Answer call lights and respond to alarm systems.
- Clean utility rooms, storage areas, and resident rooms/closets/drawers.
- Empty soiled linen.
- Conduct leisure activities with residents.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Standard First Aid certification required for Assisted Living/Memory Support units only.
- Completion of a minimum of 8 hours of a state-approved training course provided by Riverside.
- Aged 18 or above.
Qualifications
- Must be able to commit to a 12-month work period for full-time positions or an 18-month work period for part-time positions.
- Positions in home health or acute care do not qualify for the Earn and Learn program.
Benefits
Graduates are eligible for reimbursement for costs associated with registering for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam to achieve CNA designation.
Pay
Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs. Hourly range is $15.60 - $20.25.
Schedule
Full-time CNA positions require a 12-month work commitment and part-time positions require an 18-month work commitment upon graduation. Status is determined by facility need.
