About the role
French Broad Adventures is seeking two professional Whitewater Rafting Guides for the 2026 season. Based at our Marshall, NC outpost, this is a seasonal position that offers a unique opportunity to join a family-oriented small business and gain valuable skills in outdoor adventures.
Responsibilities
- Paddle commercial rafts on rivers with Class I-IV rapids
- Read whitewater and use river signals
- Maneuver rafts and tie knots
- Work with guests and perform basic river operations
- Provide excellent customer service
- Work well under pressure and demonstrate risk management strategies
- Work as part of a team and have a positive attitude
- Communicate effectively with large groups
- Work weekends and holidays
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Current First Aid/Basic CPR/AED certification
- Completion of FBA Raft Guide training and check-out process
- Excellent customer service skills
- Positive attitude and ability to take direction
- Enthusiasm for sharing outdoor activities
- Good judgment and decision-making skills
- Comfortable speaking to large groups
Qualifications
- Experienced in whitewater rafting
- Strong physical fitness and stamina
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Schedule
Seasonal, typically mid-May through September. Saturdays and Sundays, April 25 - May 17, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Marshall Outpost, RM 112.
