Risk Management Specialist
About the role
The role supports the adverse event reporting process, investigates adverse events, educates associates and physicians, analyzes risk data, and manages claims.
Responsibilities
- Supports adverse event reporting and investigation
- Reviews and identifies events requiring claims notification
- Trains associates and physicians on the event reporting system
- Analyzes risk data and creates summary reports
- Collaborates with Public Safety and Security
- Responds to specific emergency codes
- Supports defense legal counsel and claims administrators
- Conducts investigations and follows up on incidents
- Attends court during pretrial and trial situations
- Reports non-asserted and asserted claims to Advocate Insurance Segregated Portfolio Company (AISPC)
- Assists in preparing for the defense of claims and lawsuits
- Coordinates claims investigation and reporting for physicians
- Participates in health outcomes initiatives
- Provides consultation on risk management and safety issues
- Identifies and reports operational liability issues
- Performs routine unit/department rounds
- Provides 24/7 Risk Management on-call coverage
- Assists in developing educational programs on risk management and related topics
Requirements
Five years recent healthcare experience required, with previous risk management, claims, or insurance experience preferred. Bachelor's degree, certification/certificate in legal field, RN or other clinical licensure in healthcare field preferred.
Qualifications
Knowledge of federal and Illinois law related to healthcare.
Skills
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, ability to analyze data, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Pay
$35.50 - $53.25 per hour.
Schedule
Hybrid position providing on-site support to Good Shepherd Hospital and Condell Medical Center, Monday through Friday, normal business hours.
