Responsibilities
- Reviews, analyzes, and reports on risk, quality, service, and controls to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, industry standards, and operating procedures.
- Develops standard risk assessment scopes and conducts re-scoping to ensure validity.
- Determines the root cause of process gaps through analyses.
- Maintains oversight of corrective action target dates to ensure prompt remediation and control implementation.
- Analyzes, defines, and documents detailed process workflows through user interviews, facilitated workshops, and subject matter expert engagement.
- Executes risk assessments and creates a clear understanding of the core accountabilities within the process.
- Focusses on the highest priority needs of the business and organizes research for and develops specialized risk assessment scopes.
- Collaborates with management and personnel to optimize risk assessment and scope development.
- Identifies potential business risks, operational and regulatory process deficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Gathers and synthesizes data; presents conclusions and offers risk mitigation, remediation, and process improvement solutions to management.
- Makes recommendations for additional controls and corrective action to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and risk mitigation processes.
- Prepares and presents summaries, operational and regulatory risk assessment reports, trends, and remedial or mitigation solutions to management and/or affected business units.
- Gathers information and provides fact-based findings and recommendations.
- Escalates issues identified during review and analysis to stakeholders.
- Establishes a network of subject matter experts that provide the detail and context for existing processes, and/or stakeholders that may influence others to help support or drive improvements and mitigate risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or Finance.
- 4-7 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry, preferably in a Mortgage Loan Servicing environment.
- Mortgage servicing or mortgage lending experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of operational and regulatory risk controls, concepts, and practices.
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute risk mitigation and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong client service skills.
