RHRP Optometry Technician

About the Role

We are seeking Optometry Technicians to provide dental exams and treatment to Military Service members in the State of Texas. The position primarily involves working weekends, with occasional weekdays on an as‑needed basis.

Health Readiness Services

Our team delivers health readiness services to meet the medical and dental requirements for maintaining a deployable military force, supporting the following components:

• U.S. Army Reserve (USAR)
• Army National Guard (ARNG)
• U.S. Navy Reserve (USNR)
• U.S. Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES)
• U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (USCGR)
• Air National Guard (ANG)
• U.S. Air Force Reserve (USAFR)

Responsibilities

• Assist the optometrist with procedures and patient care.
• Take patient histories and maintain the patient records system.
• Help patients select suitable frames for their glasses.
• Demonstrate care and maintenance of lenses to patients.
• Repair minor issues with broken or damaged eyeglasses.
• Keep the office organized and presentable, and prepare exam rooms.
• Test visual acuity, depth perception, pressure, and pupil reflexes.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience as an optometric or ophthalmic technician.
• Experience performing visual fields, OCTs, and Fundus Photography.
• Proficiency with computers, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs.
• Own transportation for site travel.
• Ability to undergo background check (including criminal record check) and drug screening; participation in E‑Verify.

Schedule

Work primarily on weekends with occasional weekdays, on an as‑needed basis.
