About the role
The role involves designing and testing RF microwave components and phased array applications. It also includes developing insights that extend knowledge in the RF/Microwave field and forming the basis of new concepts, theories, and products. Responsibilities include designing and/or testing MMIC or module products and test fixtures at RF/microwave frequencies, integrating and testing component level and system level phased array hardware, and providing technical support to production activities.
Responsibilities
- Design of RF microwave components and phased array applications
- Develop insights that extend your knowledge in the RF/Microwave field and form the basis of new concepts, theories, and products
- Design and/or test MMIC or module products and test fixtures at RF/microwave frequencies
- Integrate and test component level and system level phased array hardware
- Provide technical support to production activities
- Team leadership skills including cost and schedule management plus proposal writing and presentation experience are desired
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Experience in Microwave/RF system, subsystem and/or component analysis, design and/or test
- Experience with an electromagnetic simulation tool such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys and Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition Cadence Virtuso, and an analytical tool such as Matlab
- Experience performing basic RF calculations and Cascaded Analysis
Qualifications
- Background designing and testing analog CCAs, including frequency conversion, automatic gain control, amplifier design and analog filter design
- Experience in electrical interconnects and transmission line design
- Understanding of RF layout techniques from HF to X-Band
- Understanding of EMI analysis and mitigation techniques
- Propensity for learning through self-study and being comfortable in a multi-tasking environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level
- Experience designing RF/Microwave MMIC circuits, modules or test fixtures
- Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices
- Experience with integrated circuit layout and physical verification using Cadence Virtuoso software tools
- Familiarity with semiconductor processing and concepts, e.g. technologies like GaAs, GaN, SOI
- Strong academic background that includes courses in: Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory and Radar Systems
- Strong hands-on experience with microwave testing techniques, including using spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) and Performance Network Analyzer (PNAs)
- Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering OR PhD degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus
