About the role
The Review Assistant plays a pivotal role in streamlining the clinical review process by meticulously preparing prior authorization cases. This position ensures adherence to internal policies, procedures, and organizational standards while providing non-clinical support to programs and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary non-clinical program support, including provider training, customer service, call triaging, authorization preparation, data entry, and tracking functions for members and providers.
- Offer non-clinical support to other programs as needed, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
- Review patient records for completeness against submission requirements, identifying cases needing additional non-clinical information.
- Process and document case discharges with precision and timeliness.
- Ensure accurate and prompt submission of administrative documents to relevant parties.
- Act as a liaison with internal and external customers, fostering professional relationships to facilitate an effective review process.
- Attend training and scheduled meetings to maintain up-to-date information for case preparation.
- Uphold medical records confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policies through secure handling of files and passwords.
- Answer calls with proper telephone etiquette and communication skills aligned with Acentra Health’s policies.
- Cross-train to perform duties of other contracts within the Acentra Health network to meet client and consumer needs.
- Fulfill other assigned duties to meet contract deliverables and organizational requirements.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies, including those related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate degree preferred and/or equivalent work experience in medical, behavioral, or social/support settings.
- 1-2 years of experience in administrative or records management.
- 2-3 years in an administrative support or customer service position, with familiarity in healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of office environments and business processes.
- Understanding of a customer service approach tailored for medical provider stakeholders.
- Familiarity with government structures and related programs.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask, prioritize, and serve diverse customers.
- Experience in development and project activities.
- Experience in staff and provider training, with preferred public speaking skills.
- Proactive approach to assessing office functions and reporting potential issues to leadership.
- Capability to track provider issues and report them appropriately.
- Willingness to learn the Atrezzo application and assist customers with technical issues related to Health Homes authorization requests.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Experience In Lieu Of Degree
For non-clinical roles, Acentra Health recognizes that practical, hands-on experience can provide skills equivalent to formal education. Where a Bachelor’s degree may be required, the company accepts a minimum of six (6) years of directly relevant professional experience. For roles requiring an Associate’s degree, three (3) years of relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.

Pay
USD $17.46 - USD $21.83 per hour. Placement within this range depends on years of applicable experience and skill level.
