Revenue Tax Officer 1 or 2
About the role
The Louisiana Department of Revenue seeks a Revenue Tax Officer to enforce state revenue laws and assist taxpayers in complying with requirements. This position is part of the Individual Tax Enforcement Division.
Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to incoming telephone calls and correspondence regarding tax due notices for business and individual income taxes.
- Aid walk-in taxpayers with issues related to tax due notices for business and individual income taxes.
- Enforce state revenue laws and assist taxpayers in meeting legal requirements.
- Analyze financial statements and documentation from taxpayers, accountants, CPAs, and attorneys to assess their ability to pay.
- Support agencies with file uploads and data analysis.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; or six years of full-time work experience in any field; or a bachelor's degree. Experience substitution applies with up to 120 semester hours substituting for up to four years of experience.
Qualifications
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The official job specifications for this role can be found here.

Pay
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The starting rates for the positions are as follows:
- Revenue Tax Officer 1 (AS-612): $17.79/hourly; $1423.20 biweekly.
- Revenue Tax Officer 2 (AS-613): $19.04/hourly; $1523.20 biweekly.
