About the role
The Revenue Accountant will support the application of ASC 606 guidance for consulting and project-based contracts, review customer contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs), prepare customer invoices, maintain and review 1099 contractor costs, support accounts receivable and cash collection activities, assist with revenue and AR reconciliations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve billing, contract, and collection-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Support the application of ASC 606 guidance for consulting and project-based contracts.
- Review customer contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs) to understand billing terms and revenue recognition requirements.
- Prepare customer invoices and assist in reviewing invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and review 1099 contractor costs to ensure alignment with customer invoicing and project billing requirements.
- Support accounts receivable and cash collection activities, including monitoring aging reports and following up on outstanding balances.
- Absorb revenue and AR reconciliations, variance analysis, and month-end close activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve billing, contract, and collection-related issues.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve revenue, billing, and AR processes and controls.
- Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects and system initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in revenue accounting, invoicing, and accounts receivable.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong Excel skills, strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, high attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or life sciences industries.
- CPA or CPA-track.
