Retail Store Manager (Destin, FL)

About the role
This position is critical to the overall operation of Kitty Hawk Kites. The Retail Store Manager maximizes customer and staff satisfaction while helping maintain company policies and procedures. You will keep in touch with the Retail Operations Manager (ROM) to communicate any needed changes or problems and bring the company’s vision, mission, and values to life for associates.
Responsibilities
- Operate within KHK Inc. core values, mission, and purpose statement
- Careful selection and training of staff
- Maintain correct staffing levels during various seasons and holidays
- Attend company functions and meetings
- Supervise staff and maintain a clean, safe, and attractive store environment
- Create and manage staff schedules
- Prepare opening and closing reports, payroll reports, sales documentation, and marketing reports
- Develop budget projections
- Handle transfer forms and packing slips
- Supervise merchandising and maintain stock levels
- Check for back-stocked items or availability from other stores
- Ensure daily money deposits
- Maintain store upkeep and address maintenance needs
- Assist the buyer with feedback and current trends
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Working Conditions
The work environment is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting, though occasional outdoor work may be required, exposing you to natural elements. The noise level is moderate.
Physical Requirements
- About one-third of the time involves climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- One-third to two-thirds of the time involves standing, walking, sitting, and reaching
- About two-thirds of the time involves using hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as talking or hearing
- Regularly lift up to 25 lbs
- Vision requirements: close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Additional physical demands include continuous computer work, cash register operation, sales floor tasks, events work, and mail order duties
This is a full-time, management-level position located in Destin, Florida.
