This is a permanent part-time role estimating 6–8 hours per week across all assigned stores, depending on store size and project requirements.

About the role

ScanScape Retail Scan Associates visit a designated selection of stores each week to scan all product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations, including aisle end caps. The data collected is analyzed and used to improve the sales performance of the product and retailer.

Store types include grocery, convenience, drug, pet, and mass merchandise stores. Major brand retailers include Walmart, Kroger, Target, Albertsons, and other national chains, as well as small independent retailers.

Associates use a downloadable app on their mobile phone to scan barcodes throughout each store. For about 45% of the products scanned, you will also provide quantity information.

Responsibilities

  • Report to assigned stores within weekly deadlines.
  • Complete Display Scanning on the entire store every week (can take several hours).
  • Perform Custom Projects—additional work requested by clients that can add 30 minutes to 2 hours per store each week.
  • Adhere to weekly deadlines to ensure data quality and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable vehicle with minimum state auto insurance coverage.
  • Ability to endure being on your feet for long periods while accessing products throughout the store.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet in the air, and bend/stretch/stoop/stand.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Deadline-driven self-starter.
  • Access to reliable Wi-Fi.
  • Tech-savvy.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Workdays vary by location:

  • Mass Retail – Leeds, AL (Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday).
  • Grocery – Birmingham, AL (Wednesday or Thursday).
