Retail Registered Pharmacy Technician

About the role

The Retail Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, assisting patients, processing insurance claims, managing inventory, and maintaining accurate prescription records. They also cross-train other Pharmacy Technicians to work in both Retail and Inpatient Departments. This position is on a per-diem (PD/PRN) basis, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Cross-train current Pharmacy Technicians to work in both the Retail and Inpatient Departments, ensuring they are capable of performing effectively in both areas
• Prepare and dispense medications accurately based on prescriptions
• Assist patients with prescription pick-ups, answer questions, and explain medication instructions
• Process insurance claims, handle billing, insurance verification, and resolve payment issues
• Manage stock, order supplies, and ensure medications are stored properly
• Input prescription information into the pharmacy system

Requirements

• State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred
• Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred
