Retail Real Estate Controller

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis.
• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Analyze property performance, profitability, operating costs, and ROI.
• Support acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, and due diligence efforts.
• Manage banking relationships and liquidity planning.
• Drive process improvements and oversee accounting systems and reporting.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff while partnering closely with executive leadership.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Real estate accounting experience required.
• Experience supporting retail shopping centers, commercial real estate, or property investment portfolios.
• Yardi experience required.
• Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Ideal Background: Experience managing accounting for multiple retail centers, shopping centers, or commercial real estate properties.
• Hands-on accounting leader who can operate strategically while remaining involved in day-to-day operations.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented real estate environment.
