Fund Controller - Real Estate

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fund Controller to join a growing real estate investment firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting leader who will own fund reporting, support investors, and partner closely with leadership on portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fund accounting, reporting, and close processes
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements
• Manage investor reporting, capital account statements, and performance reporting
• Oversee capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations
• Cook with auditors, tax advisors, and third-party partners
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Partner with acquisitions and asset management on transactions and portfolio activity
• Support audits, tax reporting, and process improvements
• Mentor junior accounting staff as needed

Requirements

• Must have 7+ years of accounting experience in real estate investment, private equity real estate, or REIT environments
• Strong grasp of fund and multi-entity accounting
• Experience managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Qualifications

• Preferred qualifications include CPA, experience with fund audits and external auditors, background supporting complex real estate portfolios, and prior process improvement or team leadership experience

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of real estate investment and accounting principles

Benefits

Pay

Pay Range: $140,000 - $170,000 base

Schedule

Hybrid (4 days on-site, 1 day remote per week)
