Retail Pharmacy Technician, PRN

Position Summary

The Retail Pharmacy Technician assists in the preparation, dispensing, and charging of medications and pharmaceutical supplies under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role works closely with pharmacists and nursing staff to provide safe, accurate, and high-quality patient care.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare the pharmacy for daily operations.
• Provide courteous, professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Enter prescriptions accurately into the pharmacy computer system.
• Fill prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Process customer purchases and collect payments.
• Offer patients the opportunity to speak with the pharmacist regarding medication counseling.
• Order and receive medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
• Verify incoming medication orders.
• Run daily audit reports, including narcotics and charge posting reports.
• Maintain appropriate medication par levels.
• Perform monthly checks for expired medications.
• Auxiliary tasks such as assisting with quality improvement initiatives, filling stock requisitions, restocking pharmacy supplies, delivering pharmacy mail, and assisting with inventory management activities.
• Assist with the implementation of new programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR).
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong computer proficiency.
• Strong clerical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and dependability.
• Ability to complete assigned projects and responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Pay Range

$18 - $23 per hour
