Position Summary
The Retail Pharmacy Technician assists in the preparation, dispensing, and charging of medications and pharmaceutical supplies under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role works closely with pharmacists and nursing staff to provide safe, accurate, and high-quality patient care.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare the pharmacy for daily operations.
- Provide courteous, professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Enter prescriptions accurately into the pharmacy computer system.
- Fill prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process customer purchases and collect payments.
- Offer patients the opportunity to speak with the pharmacist regarding medication counseling.
- Order and receive medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Verify incoming medication orders.
- Run daily audit reports, including narcotics and charge posting reports.
- Maintain appropriate medication par levels.
- Perform monthly checks for expired medications.
- Auxiliary tasks such as assisting with quality improvement initiatives, filling stock requisitions, restocking pharmacy supplies, delivering pharmacy mail, and assisting with inventory management activities.
- Assist with the implementation of new programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience.
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR).
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Strong clerical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and dependability.
- Ability to complete assigned projects and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Pay Range
$18 - $23 per hour
