Retail Pharmacy Technician-PRN
About the Role
A dependable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician who supports pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications safely and accurately. This role requires a commitment to excellent customer service, teamwork, patient safety, and maintaining accurate records.
Must have Trainee Certification or Pharmacy Technician Certification from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. High school diploma or GED preferred, or 2 years of work experience. One year of pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and keeping accurate records under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
- Maintain over-the-counter stock and prescription inventory at appropriate levels.
- Accurately enter prescription charges and credits into the pharmacy computer system.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, unpacking, storing, rotating, restocking, and replacing medications and supplies.
- Prepackage medications in unit-of-use containers as needed.
- Maintain logs, records, and required documentation accurately.
- Professionally assist customers by phone, at the service window, and through medication-related support requests.
- Make STAT deliveries to patient care areas when requested.
- Complete medication storage area inspections in a timely manner.
- Participate in quality improvement activities by conducting monitors, collecting data, and completing assigned documentation.
- Maintain competency required for the current job title and position.
- Follow all applicable HIPAA, safety, compliance, and patient confidentiality standards.
