About the Role

Assist the pharmacists in providing quality pharmaceutical care to all patients by performing technical duties in the pharmacy department, working under the supervision of the Pharmacist.

Responsibilities

  • Prescription Filling:
    • Data Intake from Patients: Acquire the necessary information needed to properly fill a prescription, ensuring all legally required data is obtained.
    • Prescription Processing: Utilize existing computer software to process prescriptions, handle third-party payers, solve electronic adjudication issues, and accurately record prescriptions dispensed. Contact physicians and benefits providers as needed, complete third-party insurance forms, and other related paperwork.
  • Cash Handling:
    • Complete cash transactions with customers using POS equipment, credit card processing machines, and cash transactions. Run end-of-day reports and perform proper business closing procedures.
  • Telephone Transactions:
    • Represent the business professionally over the phone with courteous and effective communication skills.
  • Other Duties:
    • Provide a professional and confidential environment for customers.
    • Ensure compliance with all Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining to retail pharmacy practice.
    • Inventory and stock prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplies.
    • Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
    • Generate reports from the pharmacy computer system.
    • Prepare/compound ointments, creams, and other pharmaceuticals.
    • Stay informed about the latest medicines and their availability.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED Diploma from an accredited program.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) or Registered Pharmacy Technician (PHT) certification upon hire.
  • Licensed by the State of Georgia.
  • Exposure/experience in all phases of retail pharmacy operations.
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy setting, including data entry into pharmacy software systems, purchasing/inventory control, controlled substance documentation, data intake from customers, and customer service skills.

  • Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good mentoring skills.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
