Retail Ophthalmic Dispensing Trainee

Essential Responsibilities

• Aid customers with frame and lens selection.
• Provide accurate product information about frames, lenses, and other services.
• Inform customers covered by third-party insurance about benefits and frame/lens selections.
• Sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Ensure the accuracy of patient pricing.
• Communicate with the lab and optometrist for prescription accuracy.
• Fulfill education and experience requirements to become a licensed optician.
• Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Participate in training and educational activities.
• Diligently maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and facility.
• Complete additional responsibilities as required by changing business needs.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current New York or Massachusetts Apprentice permit to practice.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 20 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Work in a moderate noise environment.

Compensation

Position provides competitive pay and benefits. Specific terms are set forth in the Company's collective bargaining agreement with a minimum pay rate of $17.50 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience to a maximum of $26.25 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities also available.
