About the role
Marine Layer is a Certified B Corp that designs and manufactures its own line of casual apparel, selling through web, retail, and wholesale channels. With over 50 stores nationwide, we’re looking for a Retail Engagement & Communications Associate to support the creation, organization, and delivery of retail-facing communication, training materials, and marketing content. This role will strategically optimize internal communication channels and identify new methods to engage our team of 50+ stores.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Retail Brand Experience Manager in devising and implementing internal communication strategies that align with Marine Layer’s objectives and enhance employee engagement.
- Work closely with senior retail leadership and cross-functional partners to produce strategic weekly fleet-wide communications for all areas of the business.
- Act as a workload gatekeeper, ensuring initiatives support improved business processes, customer experience, and increased productivity in stores.
- Collaborate with the Retail Brand Experience Manager and Marketing team to execute strategies driving traffic, sales, and conversion through promotions, ads, and local marketing.
- Draft and publish all internal retail team communications.
- Maintain the retail communications calendar, monitor field engagement and feedback, and collaborate on data-gathering methodology.
- Propose layout, verbiage, and creative production for all internal materials.
- Translate web campaigns for stores, creating visuals, talking points, and other assets.
- Coordinate with Marketing and Visual teams to obtain relevant assets for internal and external use.
- Work with Brand Environment to minimize the impact of store actions on teams and customers.
- Collaborate with the Retail Brand Experience Manager to execute back-of-house branded environment visuals and experience.
- Partner with the Retail Technical & Process Specialist to ensure seamless execution of processes and materials in stores.
Qualifications
- Authentic Brand Advocate: You know, like, and understand the brand, and can cultivate an authentic communicative voice that reinforces and strengthens it.
- Excellent (and Creative) Communicator: You are concise, thoughtful, and align with the Marine Layer vibe. Experience with communication programs and applying brand strategy to company objectives is essential.
- Organized: Experience managing complex projects, timelines, and deliverables with a high degree of attention to detail. Ability to set measurable performance objectives and work proactively across teams.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a corporate retail operations or communications role.
- Proven ability to maximize operational workload efficiency using strategic brand communication programs.
- Demonstrated time management skills.
- Experience in Instructional Design, Retail Operations, or Brand Strategy is a plus.
