Responsible for maximizing the profitability of the retail division through strong relationships with cross-functional partners, influencing strategy, and providing timely feedback. Oversees staffing, merchandising, communication, operations, and creating a selling culture in stores to drive sales and deliver an exceptional customer experience. Leads by example, ensuring all Senior Store Managers and Store Managers foster a purpose-driven leadership approach. Regular store visits assess service quality, selling skills, operational efficiency, and adherence to company leadership competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive profitability and efficiency by collaborating with leadership on tools and resources for store teams to operate at peak performance, ensuring a superior customer experience and maximizing sales.
  • Actively participate in seasonal planning to proactively address potential issues and clarify the impact of decisions on store teams and customer experience.
  • Act as a gatekeeper for retail team tasks, ensuring feasibility, appropriate timing, and a clear return on investment for labor spent.
  • Demonstrate leadership in driving district KPIs, focusing on sales, profitability, ATV, UPT, conversion, mixed cart, and customer capture.
  • Monitor and evaluate individual and store performance in sales, expense budgets, shrink mitigation, customer engagement, leadership, and culture; implement action plans to achieve goals.
  • Foster a selling-through-service environment, integrating in-store and omni-channel experiences.
  • Ensure all district employees are trained in company standards for appearance, performance, and product knowledge.
  • Benchmark against competitors to exceed customer expectations and coach managers on effective staffing and scheduling for sales and profitability.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and lead Senior Store Managers and Store Managers, maintaining indirect responsibility for all district employees.
  • Schedule staff to meet payroll and productivity goals while maintaining professionalism in handling employee or customer issues.
  • Provide regular coaching and feedback to Senior Store Managers and Store Managers, conducting performance appraisals and HR documentation efficiently.
  • Handle disciplinary actions, including terminations, within company guidelines.
  • Supervise loss prevention policies, maintain acceptable inventory shortage levels, and ensure proper handling of workers' compensation and liability reports.
  • Ensure store safety by identifying and correcting hazardous situations.
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards and current floor sets across all stores.
  • Communicate merchandising and product opportunities to business partners weekly or as needed.
  • Assure appropriate inventory levels based on sales trends and market needs, recommending profile changes when necessary.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and on time, communicating local competition and business conditions to the executive team.
  • Monitor payroll and other store expenses within approved budgets.
  • Ensure all management staff complete necessary training and new Store Managers are trained using Center of Excellence Stores.
  • Communicate policy and procedure changes to district managers and ensure proper implementation.
  • Oversee efficient execution of new store openings and remodels within the district.
  • Inspire brand stewardship among all associates at every level.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred but not required (equivalent work experience considered).
  • 5+ years of apparel retail experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Multi-unit management experience.
  • New store opening experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Understanding of business and organizational agility.
  • Strong planning, organization, and resource alignment skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Work Environment

This position oversees the West District and can be located in Denver, CO; Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN; or Salt Lake City, UT.

  • Travel is required.
  • Sitting (50% of working hours) and standing (50% of working hours).
  • Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movement (e.g., typing).
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, and bending.
  • Noise level no greater than casual conversation.
  • Ability to work in cubicle workstations or office settings with temperatures ranging from 65-75 degrees.
  • Ability to maintain a disruption-free work environment (e.g., home office) with a permanently housed home network modem/router and company-issued equipment.

Pay

Compensation range: $120,000 - $160,000 per year. Eligible for company bonus and long-term incentive programs upon hire. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
