District Retail Director

This position is responsible for directing the management and operations of multiple retail stores (9-13) within an assigned district. Each store the District Retail Director oversees processes approximately 1.7M donated items, generates $2.8M in annual thrift sales on average, employs 30-50 employees, and is typically designated to provide retail training services to participants enrolled with Services and Programs. This role ensures retail stores are running efficiently and meeting their financial expectations. The District Retail Director directly manages each store’s General Manager and is responsible for their professional development and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Foster cooperation among all business segments to deliver a high standard of quality service (Operational Excellence).
  • Ensure store talent is trained and developed; manage store personnel needs (Talent Management).
  • Promote continued community involvement and education around Goodwill-Easter Seals (Services & Programs).
  • Produce quality results by applying efficient best practices (Performance & Standards).
  • Promote a high quality of work and personal proficiency through effective and innovative leadership.
  • Ensure safety and protection of employees, assets, and facilities.
  • Conduct full store business reviews quarterly.
  • Travel to store locations 4-5 days a week.
  • Analyze data, observe behaviors, and solicit feedback to identify practices and behaviors necessary for business improvement (Performance Management).
  • Source, identify, and develop quality talent for replacement and bench-strength (Talent Management).
  • Understand and navigate various field and office support mechanisms (Organizational Agility).
  • Plan, organize, and manage time for current and future months.
  • Utilize POS, scheduling software, spreadsheets, onboarding software, HRIS, and payroll systems.
  • Drive sales results both in-store and through e-commerce.
  • Manage conflicts effectively.
  • Interact with a diverse population.
  • Apply budgeting and cost analysis expertise.
  • Provide excellent customer service and lead a team to do the same.
  • Handle daily vehicle travel, occasional overnights, multi-tasking administrative work, and occasional weekend availability.
  • Be available as needed for any issues that may arise after-hours.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of retail or similar/related experience.
  • 3+ years of single-unit business management (5+ years preferred).
  • Previous multi-unit management experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop team members professionally and in skills.
  • Strong independent work skills, personal organization, and drive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with modern communication tools (laptop, smartphone, email, Zoom, Microsoft Office).
  • Hands-on approach to training, coaching, and inspection.
  • Ability to pull a team together cohesively and leverage unique skills for better performance.
  • Ability to adapt and lead within an ever-changing environment.
  • Experience with POS, scheduling software, spreadsheets, onboarding software, HRIS, and payroll.
  • Comfort working in environments with heavy equipment and extensive manual labor.
  • Valid driver’s license, at least 21 years of age, and ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
  • Must carry automobile liability insurance with minimum limits of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 or a combined single limit of $300,000.

Pay

Pay range: $112,033-$157,061 annual salary.

Schedule
