As a Retail Counter Clerk, you will provide prompt, excellent customer service to patrons of The Fish Peddler.

Responsibilities

• Stock and merchandise all seafood products in the display case.
• Rotate product as needed.
• Provide knowledge of products along with cooking and serving suggestions to patrons.
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of food safety at all times.
• Assist customers with inquiries and complaints.
• Operate scales and cash register.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
• Assist kitchen and wait staff when necessary.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of prior experience in food counter sales, merchandising of food products, or other related experience.
• A food handler’s card or the ability to obtain one.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Effective communication skills.

Preferred

• Prior seafood experience.

• Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and read extensively.
• Repetitive motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

The working environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to:

• Utilizes PC and other standard office equipment.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. If lengthy time working in the server room is required, personnel will be provided with noise-cancelling headphones.
