About the role
Focal Systems is a Silicon Valley startup focused on retail AI solutions. This role is primarily field-based, requiring approximately 75–100% of time spent visiting stores in the NY/NJ area. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure exceptional day-to-day support for retail partners and maximize return on investment from their partnership with Focal and our technology solutions.
- Work closely with both new pilot projects and established retail clients, owning the onboarding process and ongoing engagement with their stores.
- Act as the key link between the retailer and the wider Focal team.
- Drive change management and adoption by providing an exceptional onboarding experience for Focal's customers, identifying and removing barriers to utilization.
- Act as the voice and champion of the customer, proactively addressing challenges and enhancing requests to influence Focal's product roadmap.
- Facilitate internal collaboration across Focal's teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for our customers.
- Demonstrate measurable ROI to the customer by quantifying improvements in store operations through continuous monitoring and analysis, and making data-driven recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Mid or senior-level experience within the retail sector, ideally in grocery, or 5+ years in a technology client-facing role, including customer success, account management, consulting, project management, change management, or onboarding/training.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
- Strategic thinking skills and high intellectual curiosity.
- A start-up mindset and work ethic aligned with Focal's core values.
- The ability to commute to stores as required.

Pay
$120,000 to $150,000 On-Target-Earnings (80/20 split between base and bonus) + stock options
