About the Role

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) works cooperatively with all team members in planning and performing basic care, supporting patient care delivery while adhering to all standards of care and promoting teamwork among coworkers.

Department-Specific Competencies

  • Assist Rehab Therapists according to established guidelines with patient treatment, including but not limited to:
    • Assist with Physical Therapy treatments such as bed mobility, sitting, transferring, standing, ambulating, and utilizing/monitoring equipment appropriately (e.g., tilt table)
    • Assist with Occupational Therapy treatments including bathing, showering, ADL, feeding, transferring, and others as directed
    • Prepare patient to be available for therapies at scheduled time
    • Transport patient to rehab gym/solarium for meals, speech, or other treatments as directed
  • Implement the patient care plan by providing direct patient care for assigned patients, including but not limited to:
    • Give baths, oral hygiene, skin care, and backrubs
    • Assist patients to and from the bathroom
    • Position patients and change position appropriately according to care plan instructions
    • Ensure patients receive prescribed diet, assist with feedings as needed, and place tray conveniently
    • Collect specimens as instructed using appropriate technique
    • Take vital signs and notify RN of any change or abnormal finding
    • Assist/perform treatments as directed by RN/LVN, including foley care, application of binders, FSBS, sitz baths, post-mortem care, and others as directed
  • Report any changes in patient condition to RN/LVN; receive report
  • Document accurately in the patient record all activities, including:
    • Intake and output for assigned shift (e.g., gomco or wall suction, hemovac, T-tubes, foley outputs)
    • Care provided and patient responses according to policy and procedure
  • Orient/instruct patient/family regarding the physical environment, routines, and general rules (e.g., call system, bed controls, telephone, television, visitor policy, meal times, bathroom/shower, smoking policy, roommate introduction)

Requirements

  • BCLS or ACLS Certification
  • Certified Nurse Attendant certification

Pay

$24.00 - $30.84 per hour
