About the Role
Assist the Restaurant Manager / F&B Director in all phases of restaurant operations. Responsible for complete restaurant operation in the absence of the manager.
Responsibilities
- Monitor servers, runners, and other restaurant associates to ensure adherence to all service standards and SOPs, including inspecting staff for correct, clean, and complete uniform, polished shoes, name tag, and general appearance.
- Supervise guest service, watching for signals from guests needing assistance.
- Assist the manager in establishing and monitoring side-work duty completion.
- Maintain a balanced and secure bank according to SOP.
- Read daily communication sheets from the previous shift and prepare one for the following shift, checking for personnel call-offs and floor plan coverage.
- Inspect the restaurant for cleanliness, setup, service stands, aisle areas, and table setup.
- Communicate daily with the restaurant manager regarding special events, house counts, etc.
- Assist restaurant managers in conducting menu classes and taste panels.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- One to two full years of experience in a related position with this company or another organization.
- Advanced knowledge of food service principles and practices, including management of people, complex problems, and food and beverage operations.
- Excellent oral communication skills for interacting with guests, associates, issuing instructions, and communicating policies.
- Strong comprehension for assisting with guest and associate matters and interpreting instructions from superiors.
- Excellent vision for seating guests, expediting food, cleaning equipment, and reading floor plans, charts, and schedules.
- Experience with MICROS Simphony POS is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items (e.g., tables, chairs, trays, plates, chafing dishes) weighing 20–40 lbs daily.
- Bending to pick up dropped items, assist in serving food, or retrieve supplies.
- Mobility to cover all areas of the restaurant (95% of shift) while supervising.
- Continuous standing to assist at the hostess station, with minimal stationary standing.
- Climbing stairs, varying by location.
- Work environment is primarily indoors (95% of the time), with temperatures potentially exceeding 100°F when assisting in kitchens or outdoor dining areas.
Pay
USD $22.00 - USD $23.00 per hour.
