Restaurant Host - Sportsbook

About the role

This position is responsible for welcoming, seating, and presenting menus to guests according to department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all guest seating in accordance with proper station rotation
• Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty, and occupied tables
• Takes guest information and quotes accurate wait time or maintains an orderly line when tables are not immediately available
• Answers phones, assists guests, and takes messages as needed
• Answers guest questions concerning restaurant concepts, menus, and directions
• Interacts with all exiting outlet guests to thank them and solicit comments
• Cleans and organizes the host area and ensures menus are stocked and presentable
• Maintains all comps, paper comp voids, special request forms, coupon vouchers, and tickets as prescribed by the outlet
• Assists the department Supervisor and Manager in opening and closing duties, including arranging the room, setting tables, and preparing for special events
• Performs other related duties as needed

Requirements

• Previous guest service experience
• Ability to read, write, and determine wait times based on procedures
• Ability to visually scan the restaurant for clean, unoccupied tables

Competencies

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Thorough knowledge of operational policies regarding hours of operation, types of menus offered, restaurant concepts, and marketing programs
• Good knowledge of all legal beverage service guidelines and state liquor laws, including proper identification, refusal of service, and shutoff procedures
• Property-wide knowledge of Mohegan Sun for assisting guests
• Thorough understanding of ProHost seating system

Training Requirements

• Outlet-specific standard operating procedures
• SMART alcohol awareness

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to stand during an entire shift
• Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
• Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
