About the Role
The Restaurant Host is responsible for providing fast, friendly, and courteous service to every guest while taking reservations, greeting and seating guests, and handling guest inquiries. This position requires the ability to interact with the public, speak English clearly, remember details, and perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, turning, bending, lifting, and carrying.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service of food and beverage to all guests.
- Report to work well-groomed in full uniform and on time.
- Be hospitable, friendly, and polite with all guests, co-workers, and management using positive body language.
- Be familiar with all check and cashing procedures, including the POS system.
- Maintain records on established time sheets.
- Be knowledgeable of Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel’s history, property map, restroom and telephone locations, and hours of operation for stores and restaurants to efficiently handle guest inquiries.
- Take comp and VIP reservations.
- Answer telephone calls according to procedure, address all inquiries, and report compliments or problems to the shift manager.
- Promote positive customer relations at all times.
- Clean and organize all host areas as needed.
- Review all server stations and shifts at the start of each work shift.
- Maintain full knowledge of the menu, wine lists, and daily specials.
- Monitor all activities occurring in each section.
- Visibly monitor service and performance of each server.
- Greet all guests within 5 seconds in a friendly and courteous manner using positive body language.
- Properly clear and reset tables according to the host manual.
- Complete designated opening and closing side work daily and check with the manager or shift manager before leaving.
- Perform any duties assigned by the manager or shift manager.
- Assist other employees in performing their duties whenever required.
- Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
- Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.

Qualifications
- Must have an outgoing, friendly personality and a cheerful, accommodating disposition.
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Previous customer service experience required.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively with customers and employees.
- Ability to resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
- Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, use fingers/hands for lifting and grasping.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions.
- Must be able to talk to and hear customers/co-workers.
- Must be able to assist with special needs of customers.
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities.
- Subject to environmental conditions, including protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Subject to atmospheric conditions.
- Must possess the physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community.
Pay
Starting rate: $16.00 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
