Respite Partner, Part - time: Greater Lowell

About the role

Respite Partners are intermittent support staff that offer temporary relief and support to primary caregivers. The population served includes families caring for individuals with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or other special needs. The Respite Partners ensure the safety and well-being of individuals through engagement in meaningful activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision to individuals to allow participation in normative home-based and community-based activities.
• Aid in daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Engage individuals in recreational and social activities to promote their physical and emotional well-being.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for individuals to utilize their strengths and improve on needed skills.
• Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and other care team members.
• Model appropriate social communication and actions in all settings.
• Support the consistency of the family/home routine by assisting the individual with appropriate participation.
• Follow individualized care plans and adhere to all policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; additional caregiving training or certification is preferred.
• Previous caregiving, healthcare, or related field experience is beneficial.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to respond to health, safety, and emergency situations promptly.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
