Respiratory Therapy Student Extern

About the role

The Department 36402 Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital - Respiratory Therapy Services is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapist. This position is eligible for benefits and operates on a flexible schedule with school schedule considerations.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist, perform routine and basic level respiratory therapy procedures.
• Organize and maintain supply of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies as per department standards.
• Collect and clean equipment from various hospital areas following proper procedures and standard precautions.
• Process disposable and non-disposable equipment based on infection prevention guidelines.
• Complete annual hospital competencies.
• Learn and adapt to new equipment, procedures, and processes as needed.
• Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, including lifting and pushing/pulling, using proper technique.
• Ensure compliance with age-specific care requirements and department policies.
• Operate all necessary equipment to perform the job.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Respiratory Therapy.
• No prior experience required.

Pay

$19.80 - $29.70 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The schedule is flexible with school schedule considerations. There are 1 winter and 1 summer holiday required.
