Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapy Assistant is an equipment and inventory technician responsible for cleaning, monitoring, and maintaining all routine respiratory care equipment throughout the hospital, including medical oxygen supply. This position requires technical clinical thinking to assist therapists in meeting patient needs.

What You Will Do in This Role

• Perform daily equipment processing of all respiratory equipment: disassemble, clean, assemble, and test equipment according to department policies and procedures.
• Order, stock, and maintain respiratory supplies/equipment using a LEAN process within the Respiratory Care Department and patient care areas.
• Provide assistance to Respiratory Care Practitioners, as necessary, according to department policies and procedures.
• Identify and retrieve all electrical equipment due for calibration and regular preventative maintenance and deliver to Biomedical Engineering department on a scheduled basis.
• Assist in maintaining a clean work area in the department: ensure supplies are neatly stored and the work area is clear of hazards 100% of the time.

Qualifications You Will Need

• A High School Graduate/GED
• Current respiratory student within one year of graduation
• Ability to work on a part-time basis
