Respiratory Therapy Manager

About the role

The Respiratory Therapy Manager oversees the daily operations of the respiratory therapy department at SSH-St. Francis, a critical illness recovery hospital. This position is responsible for the professional growth of the department and ensures that all departmental standards are met while adhering to regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation with regard to pulmonary disorders and respiratory therapy practice.
• Ensure quality respiratory care and develop and monitor routine practices.
• Provide discipline-specific education to patients, families, and staff as needed.
• Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer to meet departmental standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee staff interviews, employment decisions, orientation, performance evaluations, and training and development.
• Maintain inventory, equipment, and instrument issues.
• Create and maintain clinical schedules for safe staffing.
• Maintain clinical cost control.
• Coordinate and participate in Wean Team/Pulmonary Rounds, and maintain communication with pulmonary physicians.
• Teach and counsel patients and their families.
• Maintain competency in Rapid Response and code events.
• Function as a Moderate Complexity Lab Manager over point of care testing and as the Safety Officer, overseeing the Environment of Care.

Requirements

• Current State License and Active Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date and ACLS within 6 months of employment.
• Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an Acute Care setting preferred.
• Preferred two years supervisory experience.
• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Proof of graduation required: college transcript/diploma (preferred) or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
