About the role
The Respiratory Therapy Manager oversees the daily operations of the respiratory therapy department at SSH-St. Francis, a critical illness recovery hospital. This position is responsible for the professional growth of the department and ensures that all departmental standards are met while adhering to regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation with regard to pulmonary disorders and respiratory therapy practice.
- Ensure quality respiratory care and develop and monitor routine practices.
- Provide discipline-specific education to patients, families, and staff as needed.
- Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer to meet departmental standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Oversee staff interviews, employment decisions, orientation, performance evaluations, and training and development.
- Maintain inventory, equipment, and instrument issues.
- Create and maintain clinical schedules for safe staffing.
- Maintain clinical cost control.
- Coordinate and participate in Wean Team/Pulmonary Rounds, and maintain communication with pulmonary physicians.
- Teach and counsel patients and their families.
- Maintain competency in Rapid Response and code events.
- Function as a Moderate Complexity Lab Manager over point of care testing and as the Safety Officer, overseeing the Environment of Care.
Requirements
- Current State License and Active Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date and ACLS within 6 months of employment.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an Acute Care setting preferred.
- Preferred two years supervisory experience.
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Qualifications
- Proof of graduation required: college transcript/diploma (preferred) or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
