Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN Seasonal
This position is for night shifts and runs from September 30, 2026 to April 3, 2027.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You’ll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. Responsibilities
- Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions.
- Delivering evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
- Managing ventilation and airways by assisting with artificial airway placement, initiating and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
- Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
- Maintaining equipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/RCP-State) certification
- Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner Certificate Program completion
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date)
All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period. Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need. Additional program requirements include:
- Four (4) weekend shifts each 4-week schedule period
- Two (2) holiday shifts during the 32-week period (defined by Department Manager or designee)
- Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off with no guaranteed hours by the hospital
- Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)
- Registered Nurses in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation
- Current FT/PT & PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2026–27, with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year
- Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program
- Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department
Pay
Seasonal pay is $52/hour for 72 hours per pay period.
