Respiratory Therapist - PRN - Night

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric. They set up, monitor, and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draw and analyze arterial blood gases and EKGs, and assist with airway management.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures following policies.
• Document and review clinical information for each patient.
• Educate patients and staff on treatments and procedures.
• Conduct diagnostic tests and adapt care to patient age and needs.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, standards, and safety protocols.

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and NBRC certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days.
• Proficiency in computer use, data entry, and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to diverse patient populations.

Work Demands & Environment

The role involves physical exertion, including lifting and moving objects, and exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially hazardous materials. Flexibility for working in various settings and schedules is required. The position emphasizes safety, compliance, and patient privacy.
