Respiratory Therapist - Occasional - Variable Shift

About the role

Provides respiratory care services under supervision, following physician orders, department policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Administer physician-prescribed respiratory therapies with care and accuracy.
• Verify and clarify orders, respond to therapy outcomes, and adjust treatments as needed.
• Collect information for evaluation, recommendations, and treatments.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient education clearly and thoroughly.
• Instruct patients and utilize educational materials appropriately.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is correctly set up and functioning, reporting issues promptly.
• Interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) values and communicate findings to physicians with suggestions for improvement.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved respiratory care program and NBRC certified or registered.
• Current NYS respiratory therapist or technician license and BLS/CPR certification.
• Preferred: 3–5 years hospital experience.
