Respiratory Therapist - Occasional - Variable Shift

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care services under supervision, following physician orders, department policies, and procedures.

Core Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed respiratory therapies with conscientious patient care.
• Verify and clarify orders, respond to therapy outcomes, and adjust treatments as needed.
• Collect information for evaluations, recommendations, and treatments.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient education clearly and thoroughly.
• Instruct patients and utilize educational materials appropriately.
• Ensure respiratory equipment functions correctly, report discrepancies, and follow up on issues.
• Interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) values and communicate findings to physicians, offering suggestions for improvements.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school or certified/registered by the NBRC.
• Preferably 3-5 years of hospital experience.
• Valid NYS respiratory therapist or technician license.
• BLS/CPR certification.

Pay & Schedule

• Variable shifts, part-time hours.
• Pay range of $34-$50 per hour.
