Respiratory Therapist II - Night Shift (Non-NICU)

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care in critical settings, focusing on medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, and patient assessment. This role involves independent decision-making, patient education, and mentoring new staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care through assessment, therapy planning, and collaboration with healthcare team members.
• Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, perform airway interventions, and analyze arterial blood gases.
• Educate patients and support system, promote a safe environment, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to staff development, adhere to clinical protocols, and ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with at least 20 quarter hours of science; Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience, with a minimum of 6 months in critical care.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professional development; adherence to organizational policies and standards.

Skills

• Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills; ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare professionals.
• Licensure and certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, and ACLS.
