Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary-function diagnostic tests for use by the physician in diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders.
• Confer with the patient in the treatment room to explain the procedure and methods of breathing during the test.
• Document test information in the patient’s medical record.
• Oversee inventory of supplies needed for testing.
• Calibrate and maintain diagnostic equipment; recognize and report equipment malfunctions.
• Perform pulmonary-function, lung-capacity, diffusion-capacity, and blood and oxygen tests.

Requirements

• Associate degree required.
• Credentialed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• One year of experience as a respiratory care practitioner preferred.
