RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER

About the role

$15,000 Sign-on Bonus! The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) 2 is highly proficient in the management and delivery of respiratory care. Demonstrates competencies in respiratory assessments and procedures for all patient populations and age groups. Performs and interacts as a healthcare professional administering respiratory care procedures in acute care areas and critical care areas. Demonstrates critical thinking skills and the mastery of clinical skills outlined in the RCP 2 COT. Precepts students on rotation. Exhibits leadership skills and is able to act as lead therapist as needed. Under the direction of the Pulmonary Services Leadership team, provides professional respiratory care to patients in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory care procedures in acute care and critical care areas
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and mastery of clinical skills outlined in the RCP 2 COT
• Precept students on rotation
• Act as lead therapist as needed
• Provide professional respiratory care to patients in accordance with hospital policies and procedures

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience plus the ability to show RCP II competency within 6 months of hire/transfer into role
• 3+ years of experience in a hospital setting providing respiratory care is preferred
• Associate degree from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program
• Bachelor's degree is preferred
• State of Wisconsin license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• For incumbents in this role prior to 7/1/21, the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) will be accepted in lieu of the RRT
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Advanced specialty credential from the NBRC or Asthma Educator Certification (AE-C) from the National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) is preferred

Schedule

• 3 x 12 hour nights per week
• Shift hours: 18:00–06:30
• Holiday rotation required
• Weekends: Every third weekend rotation
