Resource Specialist 1

About the Role

The Resource Specialist 1 will serve on the Child Sex Trafficking (CST) Recovery Services Team, a group of regionally assigned experts in CST response and trauma-informed intervention. This fully remote position focuses on supporting children reported missing from child welfare care with indicators of sex trafficking. The specialist will provide individualized case assistance, build relationships with local resources, and maintain knowledge of regional laws and challenges.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and maintain knowledge on promising practices in CST intervention and trauma-informed recovery planning.
• Conduct strategic outreach and cultivate relationships with victim service providers, child welfare agencies, and other regional resources.
• Maintain an updated database of CST survivor services and resources in the assigned region.
• Coordinate with internal NCMEC team members to inform outreach and assistance plans.
• Demonstrate proficiency in navigating CST response policies and processes for all states in the assigned region.
• Develop materials and resources to support child welfare professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
• Connect child welfare professionals to specialized resources for recovery planning.
• Share information on promising practices, research, and case examples with the Recovery Services Team.
• Collaborate with NCMEC divisions on specific projects or cases involving CST victims.
• Provide presentations and trainings on NCMEC resources and RST services within the assigned region.
• Communicate professionally with stakeholders, including law enforcement, child welfare agencies, and the public.
• Conform to NCMEC regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years professional experience providing direct services to CST survivors.
• Experience providing technical assistance on trauma-informed response, safety planning, and youth engagement.
• Demonstrated participation in recovery planning efforts for CST victims.
• Experience challenging biases and attitudes about exploited youth.
• Strongly preferred: Experience working with child welfare agencies and marginalized communities.
• Ability to pass background screening, including fingerprinting and criminal history check.
• Knowledge of child sex trafficking topics, victim services, and relevant policies.
• Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and mediation skills.
• Ability to handle disturbing case situations and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills (MS Office Suite).
• Adaptability and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA).
• Eligibility for Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certification (U.S. citizenship or 10 years of lawful residency required).

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm in the time zone covering the majority of states served (minimum 37.5 hours per week). Availability for after-hour and weekend response as needed.

Travel

Ability to travel as needed for conferences, training, and presentations.

Location

Remote, must live in Region 2: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, or West Virginia.
