Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing staff education, real-time coaching, and support related to nursing practice, documentation, patient safety and workflow expectations.
  • Aid in training of new employees and provide competency reinforcement as needed.
  • Maintain monitoring of staff performance and communicate concerns regarding policy violations, patient safety risks, professionalism, attendance, or clinical practice to nursing leadership.
  • Mentor and support nursing staff, mental health technicians to promote a positive and therapeutic treatment environment.
  • Monitor unit operations and communicate concerns to leadership promptly.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed throughout the facility.
  • Assist nursing staff during high-acuity situations, emergencies, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Support unit staffing needs and help maintain appropriate patient care coverage.
  • Perform nursing assessments, reassessments, and documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Respond to behavioral emergencies, medical emergencies, and crisis situations using de-escalation and therapeutic communication techniques.
  • Assist with patient searches, safety precautions, and implementation of physician orders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care needs.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Absorb patient placement and bed board management.
  • Participate in shift reports, staffing huddles, and incident follow-up when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Current unencumbered RN license by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures.
  • Current and timely renewal of BLS for healthcare providers required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; psychiatric, behavioral health, detox, emergency, or acute care experience.
  • Prior experience in nursing leadership strongly preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
