Resource Development Assistant
About the role
The Resource Development Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events and communications efforts for The Salvation Army Harrisburg. This role assists the Special Events and Communications Coordinator with event logistics, donor engagement, and administrative tasks to ensure successful and impactful events.
Responsibilities
- Supports the planning and execution of special events, with a primary focus on the annual Shoe Strut fundraiser and silent auction.
- Assists with event logistics, donor stewardship, auction coordination, administrative support, and community outreach.
- Works closely with the Development team, assisting with communications, recordkeeping, promotional materials, and event-day operations.
- Supports the overall mission and ministry of The Salvation Army.
Requirements
- Associates degree or 2-3 years of equivalent professional experience in events, communications, fundraising, or related field preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
- Must possess good interpersonal relationship skills, including professional phone and in-person etiquette.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
Qualifications
Associates degree or 2-3 years of equivalent professional experience in events, communications, fundraising, or related field preferred.
Skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Data management, mail merges, and administrative processes.
- Coordination and support projects of varying scale.
