We are seeking a Resource Coordinator to join our team in the Family Services Division Burlington Office, supporting children, families, and communities. Our goal is to promote safety, permanency, wellbeing, and law abidance for children in need. The Burlington District is actively working to increase foster/kinship care providers and resources that match the demographic of children and families in our community. The ideal candidate has experience working with New Americans, Refugees, and immigrants, and is committed to respecting racial, ethnic, and cultural differences while prioritizing child safety and wellbeing.

About the role

As a Resource Coordinator, you will support the district office in assessing foster care placement and respite resources, and recruiting foster parents based on local needs. You will work with family service workers to identify, assess, and support relatives and natural supports as placement resources for children and youth. This role also includes providing foster/kinship care orientation, ongoing support for licensed foster parents (including home visits and regular communication), and acting as a liaison between family service workers and foster parents. Additionally, you will serve as the district liaison to the local foster parent association, ensure accurate and timely data entry for reimbursements, stipends, and contracts, and ensure foster families respect the cultural, ethnic, and spiritual values of the families we serve. You will follow the Diligent Recruitment (DR) process for recruiting, retaining, and supporting kin and foster families, as well as tracking recruitment data.

Responsibilities

  • Assess foster care placement and respite resources in response to local needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of human services work or community resource development.
  • OR one (1) year or more of graduate credits in a Master's or Doctorate program related to social work, counseling, psychology, or public administration.
  • OR four (4) years of child welfare experience in recruiting, training, and retaining foster families.
  • Private means of transportation for needed travel.
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours as required.
  • Must pass applicable background checks, including Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, DMV checks, and adult and child abuse registry checks (exceptions apply for current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion, or demotion, and those exercising re-employment rights).
