About the role

The SoonerStart program is specifically tailored to cater to families with infants or toddlers who have developmental delays. As mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the program aims to supplement and provide necessary resources to aid families in augmenting their child's learning and development through routine learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, plan, and supervise the implementation of early intervention services for eligible infants, toddlers, and their families.
  • Design, execute, and manage intervention services for infants and toddlers (aged 0-2) with disabilities and their families in accordance with the Oklahoma Early Intervention Act and IDEA guidelines, through the SoonerStart Division of the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Monitor and provide follow-up activities to ensure that early intervention services are implemented and adequately address the needs of the child and family.
  • Document the child and family's early intervention services and compliance with program timelines according to IDEA, Part C regulations, by keeping accurate case records.
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude at all times; ability to build and maintain positive work relationships; demonstrate integrity and ethical conduct in all aspects of your work; ability to display a high level of professionalism in communication, behavior, and appearance; ability to accept constructive feedback to increase performance.
  • Identify and address the evolving needs and challenges of the education landscape; apply creativity, resourcefulness, and forward-thinking in finding solutions to complex problems and driving positive change in the field of education.

Requirements

  • Current trends, best practices, and research in child development and IDEA.
  • Collaboration & Collaboration: Works closely with families primarily in their homes to assess the need for medical, educational, developmental, social, and other related services; connects families with available community resources and support systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in special education, early childhood education, family relations, psychology, sociology, nursing, or a closely related field OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in programs serving youth and families may substitute for the specific degree requirements [official transcripts required upon hire].
