About the role
The Resource Acquisitions Coordinator leads and supports the team responsible for acquiring, receiving, and managing physical and electronic library collections throughout their lifecycle. This position combines operational management with strategic coordination to ensure efficient workflows, timely access, and alignment with emerging technologies and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Manages and coordinates workflows for the Resource Acquisitions team including supervision of salaried and student workers.
- Collaborates closely with the head of resource acquisition, management, and processing in setting team benchmarks and objectives.
- Creates and implements policies and procedures related to the acquisition, processing, receipt, and management of collections content in all formats, working closely with the head of resource acquisition, management, and processing.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely procurement and access to collections content.
- Works productively with the Finance and Scholarly Resources departments to meet both university and library fiscal policy requirements.
- Establishes and documents workflows, processes, and best practices for acquisition and maintenance of collections materials in all formats.
- Manages acquisition and processing related information in the Libraries’ Library Services platform and other related applications.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely procurement and access to collections content.
- Maintains accurate descriptive metadata and holdings.
- Contributes to a variety of operational and workflow analysis projects by collecting and analyzing acquisitions and processing data.
- Undertakes project-based work as required to accommodate wider policy and procedural changes.
- Ensures that sub-unit staff receive proper training to complete assigned tasks.
- Proactively manages technical and administrative changes related to the acquisition, ordering, receipt, processing, access, maintenance, and ongoing lifecycle management of physical and electronic library collections.
- Provides timely, high-quality support to library staff and users by investigating and resolving issues arising from the procurement, receipt, processing, or access of physical and electronic library materials and resources.
- Works with vendors to establish and manage purchasing workflows and related acquisitions activities.
- Provides training and instruction for library personnel in acquisitions and resource acquisitions workflows.
- Participates in departmental meetings and serves on committees, task forces, and working groups supporting unit and departmental goals.
- Attends training and development opportunities as directed by the supervisor or head of content management.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in library or information science or related field.
- Experience in acquisitions, resource management, processing, collections workflows, or a closely related area supporting physical and/or electronic library materials and resources.
- Understanding of the lifecycle of physical and electronic library collections, including procurement, receipt, access, maintenance, and ongoing management.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve technical, operational, and workflow issues related to the acquisition, processing, or access of library materials and resources.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.

$54,000+ depending on qualifications
Schedule
Flexible work arrangement available between the hours of 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday-Friday, with up to 2 remote days per week after onboarding period. Tuesdays are mandatory onsite days.
