Residential Youth Care Specialist, Walk-in-Wednesdays

Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and now operates across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care includes prevention, mental health services, and foster care. All programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed, aiming to build resilience in clients (ages 0-18) and their families.

About the role

We are excited to invite you to our Walk-In Hiring Event! Interviews for full-time and PRN roles will be conducted on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Thompson Child & Family Focus, 6801 St. Peters Lane, Matthews, NC 28105.

Responsibilities

• Provide care, supervision, structure, and build a therapeutic relationship with youth in your care.
• Work with clients from 10-17 years old, males or females who are highly acute and potentially aggressive.
• Support the treatment process of each youth.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by your Supervisor.

Requirements

• BA/BS Degree in the Human Services field strongly preferred.
• High School diploma/GED and two years' relevant experience working with youth will be considered in lieu of BA/BS degree.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Pass a drug screening test and an extensive background check.

• Able to run a distance as required in the apprehension of a fleeing youth.
